Daffney appeared this week for the first time in more than two years.
Sure, the woman who portrays Daffney, Shannon Spruill (rhymes with “cool”) has remained active in sports entertainment, but she hasn’t been Daffney since she left WCW in February 2001.
But Daffney –- the out-of-control, screaming brunette who started on Nitro and Thunder in November 1999 -– managed another former WCW competitor, Crowbar, for two non-televised “dark” matches this Monday and Tuesday before RAW and SmackDown!
“It blew my mind,” Spruill said about performing as Daffney for the first time in a while, and performing in front of WWE crowds for what she hopes is the first of many times.
Spruill has dropped 20 pounds since the last time she was on nationwide television, and she’s been working on becoming a better wrestler in independent territories around the country.
She recently sent a tape of her work to two WWE agents, Dr. Tom Prichard and John Laurinaitis. Prichard invited her to work out in the ring before WWE events last month in Atlanta and Nashville. She did the same this week, but was also given the opportunity to perform on the show.
Spruill, who graduated with a degree in film and video production with a double-minor in music and acting from Georgia State University, fell in love with sports entertainment after breaking in via what she calls “dumb luck.”
She was only supposed to be in WCW for four weeks, but she must’ve made an impression on somebody, as she stuck around much longer. For one thing, she says, her experience behind the camera helped her perform in front of it. After earning her college degree, she worked as a production coordinator and a freelance TelePrompTer operator while she went on auditions.
“I love every aspect of entertainment,” she said. “I think it makes you a better actress to know what goes into a shot.”
Originally just a valet/manager in WCW, word got around about her athletic background. She was an All-County goalkeeper at her high school, Norcross High in Atlanta, and also participated in gymnastics when she was younger. The first move she ever learned was the hurricanrana.
Eventually, she was sent to WCW’s Power Plant to work on her in-ring skills, which she’s continued to do ever since, having also trained with Dusty Rhodes at his TurnBuckle Entertainment school.
Recently, she’s worked on independent shows as a new character, Lucy, which she describes as more evil and kooky than Daffney.
Currently residing in Atlanta, Spruill said she plans to move to Louisville, Ky., which is home to Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE’s official developmental organization.
Recently signed WWE diva Gail Kim has been moved from SmackDown! to RAW so that her in-ring abilities can be showcased.
It is expected that when she debuts they will put her right in the mix of things in the Women's division. She has been working in OVW for the past several months and should be called up very soon.

I have not heard much about Linda making her debut. I did read that her wrestling skills are mush better then Linda and that she will probably head to Raw. As for Jackie, it has been said that she will be apart of Smackdown. Rumors also have been running like a wild fire that she will debut as Kannyon's valet.
